How we resource and manage our curriculum

We ensure a highly systematic approach to the wholescale resource management required to effectively deliver our curriculum across our Trust. Our robust curriculum led financial planning (CLFP) model informs us of the effects and costs of our curriculum structure ensuring efficient and equitable deployment of finite resources. Our curriculum allocation experts systematically check and review the excellent management of our curriculum and resources.  

Across all phases of our curriculum we teach age appropriate national curriculum content. Within our curriculum approach we view our Primary curriculum in terms of Early Years Foundations Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1: Years 1 to 2 (5-7 years old) and Key Stage 2: Years 3 to 6 (7-11 years old). In our secondary academies our curriculum is framed through subject pathways which operate across five years from Year 7 to 11 (11-16 years old) or seven years from Year 7 to 13 (7 -18 years old) where our academies have a sixth form. 

Our decisive curriculum allocation processes inform us on the effects, deployment and costs of our curriculum. We analyse the effects on learning, teaching and the daily operation of our academies. Our effective curriculum is reliant on the highly skilled management of subject lesson allocation, number of classes per subject, class size, number of staff required to teach our curriculum, contact ratios, lesson distribution and timings, qualifications taught, number and types of rooms required and shortfalls or excesses in both our human and physical resources across our academies etc.  Our curriculum delivery is complemented by high quality recruitment and retention processes, excellent professional development opportunities and well-focused estates and financial management. We always ensure that the scheduling of our curriculum puts students first so that learning, access and equity are prioritised.

Our academy timetables are then the vehicle to enable the delivery of our curriculum bringing our curriculum intent to fruition. The timetable is the tool by which we secure balance, ownership and accountability within our curriculum delivery. Our intelligent data led scheduling ensures subject learning is well distributed across the week and allocation is equitable, practicable and affordable.
